For everyone of the 11 players in the starting lineup, this is their first Olympic competition.
The average age of the Starting XI is 23 years, 347 days.

With the exception of three players who are older, only athletes under the age of 23 are permitted to compete in the Olympic Men's Soccer Tournament. Tonight marks the debut of all three American players who are overage: Djordje Mihailovic (age twenty-five),
Walker Zimmerman (31) and Miles Robinson (27).

Seven starters are back after beginning the Olympic Team's comeback 2-2 tie in France on March 26: Gianluca Busio, Duncan McGuire, Kevin Paredes, Tanner Tessmann, John Tolkin, and Patrick Schulte.
Tonight marks Tessmann's fifth game as the team's captain throughout this cycle of seven games. Since the team's game against Iraq on November 18, he has captained the Olympic Men's Soccer Team every time.

Every player in the starting lineup has either attended an MLS academy or competed in Major League Soccer. Members of the squad have also played for the following MLS or MLS teams in addition to current MLS clubs. Next attire: Gianluca Busio (Sporting Kansas City), Nathan Harriel (Chargers SC), Aaronson (Philadelphia Union), and Djordje Mihailovic (Chicago Fire FC, CF Montreal), Miles Robinson (Atlanta United FC, FC Greater Boston Bolts), Kevin Paredes (D.C. United, Bethesda SC), Tanner Tessmann (FC Dallas), and Walker Zimmerman (FC Dallas, LAFC).

For the senior USMNT, defenseman Miles Robinson and Walker Zimmerman have teamed together nine times in center defense, accumulating a 7W-1L-1D record. Every game was played in the official competitions (2022 FIFA World Cup qualification and the Concacaf Gold Cup in 2021). They haven't started as a team since March 31, 2022, when they faced Costa Rica in World Cup qualification.
Gianluca Busio and Tanner Tessmann, the starting midfield duo for Venezia, are teammates in Italy. Together, they oversaw the team's 2023–24 elevation to Serie A and have started four of the Olympic team's seven games thus far in this cycle.

The United States and France are competing in their first Olympic Games together.
Since the Under-23 rule was implemented in 1992, the United States has a 4W-3L-5D record in the group stage, with a 3W-1L-4D record in its past eight group stage games.
The match this evening will be officiated by Argentina's Yael Falcon. He served as an official at the FIFA U-20 World Cup, the CONMEBOL Olympic qualification competition, and the 2024 Copa America this summer.
